Backing Day is Wednesday, August 31st!

Here's a reminder from your friendly neighborhood Cotton Patch that Backing Day is this Wednesday, August 31st!

If you're new here and don't know what Backing Day is...

Bring in your finished quilt tops (100% complete, no more borders to add, done) on the last day of the month and receive 25% off your backing of choice, even Clearance!

The usual rules apply:

  • If the last day of the month falls on a Sunday when we're closed, then Backing Day is the day before (Saturday).
  • Discount valid on single-fabric backings only.  Sorry, this is not valid on several cuts of different fabrics for a pieced backing.
  • Sale prices not combinable with any other offer (this includes deals from Five Stars, redeeming points, and coupons)
  • Sale prices good in-store only on the sale day and limited to stock on-hand.
We can't wait to see what you've created - see you on the 31st!

Dog Days of Summer - Week 3!

Week 3 is upon us!  So what do we have baked up for you this week?

Week 3 (August 8th – 13th) is 20% off all Blenders.

That’s not what I meant.

Seriously.  Blenders.  If you’re not familiar with the term, these are the unsung heroes of all our quilts.  If our focus print is the star, and the go-withs the supporting actors, the blenders are the scene.  Without blenders, all you have are players but no stage.  They help tie everything together in a non-obtrusive way so all your prints make sense no matter how tame or wild they are.

So why blenders this week?  This year we have really focused on using our stashes and helping other use theirs.  Blenders are a critical piece of the puzzle when working with our stashes.  Many of us (not all of course, but many) get enamored with focus prints and their go-withs that sometimes we find our stashes lacking in more basic tie ins that go with everything.  I know for me, I have very little brown handy, and it’s never the right one when I need it for a border or binding.  Blenders hep bridge those gaps.

What makes a blender a good one?  Well, like so many other things, that’s entirely subjective to your preferences and your objectives.  But ask any quilter what their favorite blender is and they’ll probably rattle off a specific line.  Mine lately has been the Palette line from Marcia Derse.  I know Mom has always been a big fan of Floral Elements.   At the shop though…we simply couldn’t choose and so our entire back wall is chock full of blenders. One of the beautiful things is there are so many to choose from and they all work with so many different styles, and often a little goes an awful long way.

Now is the time to fill those gaps in your stash, stock up on your favorites, and maybe try a new one to finish up an old project.  Speaking of old projects…Don’t forget to join us this Saturday for UFO Challenge Day at 10:30am!
